Abstract:YogendraSinh Gohil, an Indian businessman, fell victim to a honey trap and lost Rs. 1.1 crore in a fraudulent cryptocurrency scam.
YogendraSinh Gohil, an Indian businessman, fell victim to a honey trap and lost Rs. 1.1 crore in a fraudulent cryptocurrency scam. A 50-year-old transport businessman from Bhavnagar filed a complaint with the cyber police against Unknown.
The victim began in June 2024, when the victim interacted with a person pretending to be Anika Sharma via Facebook.
The scam started in June 2024 when Gohil connected with someone on Facebook claiming to be Anika Sharma. The scammer pretended to be a financial advisor and promised daily returns of 0.69% to 1% in USDT through gold trading.
Between August and December 2024, Gohil made several transfers to different accounts. His digital wallet eventually showed a gain of 2,43,695 USDT. However, when he tried to withdraw the funds, he was asked to pay extra fees, including a 30% “risk margin” for international anti-money laundering laws.
